Cliste Hospitality Becomes First Irish Hospitality Group to Achieve ISO 50001 Energy Management Certification

Cork, 1 August 2025 — Cliste Hospitality has become the first hospitality group in Ireland to achieve ISO 50001 Energy Management Certification, marking a significant milestone for the group and its portfolio, The iNUA Hotel Collection.

ISO 50001 is an internationally recognised standard that provides a comprehensive framework for organisations to establish, implement, and continually improve energy performance. The certification focuses on increasing efficiency, optimising energy use, reducing consumption, and lowering environmental impact through structured, data-driven systems.

The certification reflects a multi-year effort led by our sustainability colleagues across the group, in collaboration with industry partners including the Green Hospitality Programme, Fáilte Ireland’s Climate Action Programme, Watt Footprint, and selected energy specialists.

“This is a testament to the hard work of our hotel management and facilities teams across the group,” said Adrian Heaney, Group Property & Sustainability Manager commented. “Since our baseline year of 2018/2019, we have reduced our carbon footprint per guest night by 11.6 kg, a saving of nearly 16% across the group. I am incredibly grateful to our facilities teams for their commitment to this vital initiative.”

By achieving ISO 50001, Cliste Hospitality joins a select group of hotel operators worldwide that have reached this benchmark. The certification underscores the company’s ambition to lead Irish hospitality in sustainable practices, demonstrating measurable impact and a clear roadmap toward decarbonisation. Cliste Hospitality continues to advance its sustainability agenda with a focus on structured energy management, operational excellence, and collaboration. The group also welcomes opportunities to share its expertise and support other organisations in implementing similar initiatives that deliver both environmental and commercial value.
